About BODYROK

BODYROK is a boutique fitness franchise built around a high-intensity, immersive training experience. Its 45-minute full-body strength classes combine high-energy music, dynamic lighting, and custom-built reformers to keep clients engaged from start to finish.

The Challenge

As BODYROK prepared to scale nationally, inconsistent audio was holding the brand back. Early studios relied on large PA-style speakers in the corners, leaving some clients overwhelmed and others straining to hear. Instructors competed with the music to be heard. And wall-mounted subwoofers in shared commercial buildings drew noise complaints from neighboring tenants, disrupting the in-studio experience.

The brand needed a standardized audio solution that could be replicated across dozens of locations, perform consistently regardless of room size, and work within BODYROK's recognizable studio aesthetic.

the Audio solution

RAVE Lighting and Technology, led by Ryan Charon and David Barnett, was brought in to build that standard and what began as a conversation about speakers quickly grew into a full technology and lighting partnership. For audio, RAVE selected Sonance Professional Series loudspeakers as the foundation, and when Sonance launched the new High Output family, RAVE deployed it at BODYROK's Houston location, marking the first installation of the new line and setting a new benchmark for the brand.

Engineered for demanding commercial environments, the High Output family gave RAVE capabilities the previous system couldn't match. Each speaker ships with a magnetically interchangeable horn and collar assembly that lets installers switch between 80° and 120° dispersion patterns in the field. For BODYROK, where studio dimensions vary from location to location, this means coverage can be precisely tailored to each room without changing the sonic character clients expect.

The High Output speakers' high-excursion 8-inch woofer delivers low-frequency extension down to 41 Hz. In Houston, RAVE replaced the previous PS-P63T pendant speakers one-for-one with High Output pendants and reduced the number of PS-S210SUBT subwoofers within the studio from three to one.

"We've been wanting to clean up the walls," said Barnett. "Getting the boxes off lets the lighting shine, and with the bass integrated into the speakers, we're in and out of the installation faster."

"Even if the bass isn't physically vibrating the wall, the perception is that it is," added Charon. "The moment you move that energy into the ceiling, those conversations with neighbors go away."

With the High Output family available across pendant, surface mount, and in-ceiling configurations, all sharing identical tonal character, RAVE can now deploy a consistent, scalable audio solution across any studio layout BODYROK encounters.

The Integrated Experience

Lighting plays an equally essential role in creating the recognizable BODYROK environment. RAVE integrates and programs bespoke, high-performance RGB+CCT linear pendants with independently controlled direct, indirect zones overhead, paired with custom built cove lighting along the edges of the studio mirrors, custom slat wall light systems, and more.

At the start of class, a single keypad button triggers a timed lighting sequence that shifts through bold pinks, blues, and purples in sync with the workout's intensity. As the session ends, a different vibrant color floods the space to mark the end of the class, all without any manual input from the instructor. The complete system is designed to work flawlessly every time the doors open, and for extra insurance, is managed remotely by RAVE.

Most of the comments we get are, 'I've never heard a sound system like that before.' When clients can clearly hear instructions over perfectly balanced music, while immersed in synchronized lighting, that's when it all comes together."

The Result

The performance difference was clear from the first listen. RAVE's installer on the ground in Houston noted that the High Output system delivered everything the Professional Series had built its reputation on and then delivers expanded performance.

For RAVE, the consistent tonal character across every form factor of the High Output family makes system design repeatable. Field-adjustable dispersion adapts to any room. And integrated low-frequency performance reduces subwoofer dependency, simplifying installs and eliminating the wall-mounting challenges that come with shared commercial spaces.

With dozens of new locations in development nationally and international expansion already underway in London, RAVE plans to specify the High Output series wherever ceiling height allows — confident that every new studio can deliver the same high-impact BODYROK experience, no matter the location.
