Cantara

2025 Sonance Design Award Winner

WINNING DESIGN

Casa Galloway is the personal residence of nationally acclaimed interior designer Lindye Galloway—known for her refined aesthetic, her furniture collection with Restoration Hardware, and her 325,000+ Instagram followers who follow her every design move. It is both a personal home and a professional showcase. That made invisibility a non-negotiable. Sonance dealer Cantara was able to deliver exceptional performance while allowing design to remain the star.

This project earned the Sonance 2025 Designed to Disappear Award for it's installation focused on the creative implementation of hiding technology into great architecture and design.

Sonance Design Awards

The Sonance Design Awards recognize dealers for exceptional achievements in implementing the Sonance "Designed to Disappear" philosophy through outstanding sales performance and innovative project designs.

The Designed to Disappear Award honors the dealer whose project best demonstrates the Sonance Designed to Disappear strategy throughout.

Cantara delivered an exceptional experience for their client while preserving and honoring the stunning details and design. Sonance is proud to recognize Cantara for this year's Designed to Disappear Award.

non-negotiable invisibility

Every piece of technology in this home was selected and installed with one explicit goal: complete invisibility without sacrificing sonic quality. The result is a seamless integration where exceptional sound performance never disrupts the architectural vision.

The system spans sixteen audio zones powered by Sonance DSP 8-130 amplifiers, with Savant streaming serving as the sole source throughout. In secondary and private spaces, we relied on Sonance VP66R speakers for their clean, reliable, and discreet performance. For the more architecturally prominent zones, we transitioned to James SA63-7 speakers with their minimal 3" round apertures—particularly challenging when installing into the tongue-and-groove wood ceilings, where precise layout and alignment were absolutely critical.

The great room anchors the home's main gathering space with a full James 5.1 system: five SA63-7 in-ceiling speakers paired with a James PP10 subwoofer. The subwoofer's grille was seamlessly routed into custom baseboard millwork, delivering cinematic performance with zero visual intrusion.

The lounge presented a unique challenge, doubling as the owner's music room while featuring a curved plaster barrel ceiling that ruled out traditional ceiling speakers entirely. Our solution? Sonance IS8 invisible in-wall speakers that preserve the architectural integrity while still delivering immersive sound—a pure architectural solution where conventional speakers simply wouldn't work.

The outdoor spaces continue this "disappear" philosophy with a comprehensive Sonance perimeter system. VPXT6Rs are recessed into the pool cabana and exterior dining loggia ceilings, Mariners are discreetly mounted to the steel trellis, and an 8.1 Garden Series system envelops the pool area without disrupting the carefully planned landscape.

This exceptional attention to detail allows technology and design to thrive in perfect harmony—creating all the sonic experience of a world-class system within a home truly worth living in.
