About the Property

Transforming The Living Experience

This stunning, sprawling estate seamlessly blends sophisticated design with state-of-the-art technology across its 33 rooms. The property’s thoughtful layout extends from its entertainment-focused basement—featuring a professional-grade theater, bowling alley, game room, bar, and golf simulator—to its expansive main level, where indoor and outdoor spaces flow together naturally. Each area has been carefully crafted to deliver both luxury and livability, setting a new standard for modern estate living.

THE CHALLENGE

When ownership changed hands mid-construction, architect Mark House faced a unique opportunity: reimagining a partially completed residence while honoring the original architectural integrity. “Providing quality sound design makes the space feel full,” explains House. “You don’t just hear the sound, you feel it. You’re really part of it, and it changes the experience of living in the space.” This vision for an immersive living experience would require innovative solutions to integrate technology seamlessly throughout the home.

LEVERAGING THE RIGHT TECHNOLOGY PARTNER

To achieve this delicate balance of technology and design, House Design Architects partnered with Modern Home Systems, a San Diego-based technology integrator known for their sophisticated approach to home automation. With over 30 years of experience, this family-owned firm brought crucial expertise to the project. The collaboration began with a focused goal: deliver high-performance technology solutions while maintaining the estate’s architectural elegance.

“It is super important to us to integrate product that is easy to control and is going to create that ambiance that the client is looking for. Once the music is on, once this big TV pops out, and once you start getting the right vibe going, it’s a magical place.”

THE RESULT

The project's success unfolded in phases, beginning with the guest house as a proof of concept. Modern Home Systems integrated Sonance Invisible Series speakers with intuitive home automation controls, creating an environment where technology enhanced the space without visible interference. The client was so impressed with this initial implementation that they quickly expanded the scope to include the entire property.

Throughout the main residence, the team carefully crafted each space to deliver an elevated living experience. The high-performance James theater became a centerpiece of the basement's entertainment area, while strategically placed Sonance and James speakers throughout the interior and exterior spaces created seamless audio zones. Every room was transformed through technology that remained virtually invisible while delivering exceptional performance.

PRODUCT HIGHLIGHT

James QX In-Wall speakers deliver exceptional performance with flexible trims to support a variety of architectural designs. Optional Mason Box accessories allow QX models to install into masonry and other solid surfaces to cleanly integrate into exterior spaces with ease, preserving the speaker location and preparing the space for ultimate marine-grade durability outside.
